    Seasonal Flu

    Due to a delay in our full delivery of seasonal flu vaccines, we're only offering vaccinations by appointment to:

    • Patients with cancer and other immunodeficient conditions
    • Patients with chronic lung and heart conditions such as asthma, COPD and heart failure
    • Women who are pregnant during flu season
    • All parents with children less than 6 months of age
    • Patients over 65 who are seen in the office may be offered vaccine

    We anticipate future vaccine deliveries and will communicate future availability of adult seasonal flu vaccine on our informational voicemail at 427-4900 option 9 or on this Web site.

    Who are at High Risk?
    Certain people should get vaccinated each year either because they are at high risk of having serious flu-related complications:
    • Pregnant women
    • People of any age with certain medical conditions, such as cancer; an immunodifficeny condition; a chronic lung condition, such as asthma; a chronic heart condition, such as COPD and heart failure
    • Parents and caretakers of children under 6 months of age as well as caretakers of immune compromised patients to the list of high risk individuals that need immunization

    Who should not be vaccinated?
    Some people should not be vaccinated without first consulting their primary care clinician:
    • People who have any severe allergies or are allergic to chicken eggs
    • People who have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past
    • People who developed Guillian-BarrĂ© syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of getting an influenza vaccine previously
    • Children less than 6 months of age (influenza vaccine is not approved for use in this age group)
    • People who have a moderate or severe illness with a fever should wait to get vaccinated until their symptoms lessen
