There’s a New OB/GYN in Town

After 85 years, Louise Cline knows a good doctor when she sees one. She was referred to Iram Zubair, M.D., about a year ago and says that the OB/GYN’s professionalism, attentiveness and sense of humor actually made her look forward to her appointments.

“Dr. Zubair is always going out of her way for patients,” says Cline. “She’s so kind, and she always takes time to explain things. I was looking forward to sending my daughter and my best friend to her. I cried when I found out she was leaving.”

Ohio’s Loss Is Our Gain
Cline lives in Fremont, Ohio, which is where Dr. Zubair practiced until May when she joined Solano Regional Medical Group, which is affiliated with Sutter Regional Medical Foundation. She moved west to be closer to her family, most of whom are also physicians.

“It was sort of a given that I would have a career in medicine. I’d been around it all my life,” says Dr. Zubair. “While I was in medical school, I realized I wanted to focus on women’s health.”

‘A Friend Who Counsels Women’
Dr. Zubair doesn’t hesitate when asked what she likes best about her job—delivering babies—but she also feels a great responsibility to educate patients about issues that may affect their health. She prefers to be thought of as a friend who counsels women about everything from preventive procedures such as Pap tests to menopause-related matters such as hormone replacement therapy.

“It’s really important that my patients feel comfortable when they’re with me,” says Dr. Zubair. “I always take the time to explain what I’m doing during an exam, especially with adolescents, because I think a lot of the fear associated with seeing a doctor comes from the unknown.”

Outside of work, Dr. Zubair enjoys spending time with her 15-year-old daughter, Nayha, as well as the other members of her family who are thrilled she now lives near them. She also likes to travel, read, shop and learn new things—including Spanish.
