Solano Economic Development Corporation Appoints John Ray, CEO of Sutter Regional Medical Foundation, to its Board of Directors

FAIRFIELD, CA – March 30, 2005 – Solano Economic Development Corporation (Solano EDC), whose mission is to attract and retain businesses in Solano County, has elected John Ray to its board of directors, effective immediately. Ray is chief executive officer of the Sutter Regional Medical Foundation and is responsible for the expansion and operation of Sutter-affiliated medical practices in Solano County. Under Ray’s direction, the new $30 million Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus, which combines a diagnostic imaging center, outpatient surgery center and medical office was erected last fall to serve residents of North Solano County.

Solano EDC markets the benefits of doing business in Solano County to both regional and national relocation decision makers by promoting the county’s economic vitality and quality of life in its seven communities. According to Solano EDC President Michael Ammann, “Companies considering a move to Solano County need to know that their employees have access to a full complement of medical services; health care is key to attracting new businesses here. John’s addition to the board -- and Sutter Health’s commitment and investment -- is critical to the economic strength of Solano County.”

“Sutter Health has made significant investments to Solano County with the recent opening of the Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus and the forthcoming medical office and cancer center opening at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo this November,” said Ray. “As a member of the Solano EDC board representing Sutter Health, we will continue to contribute to the economic growth, and quality of life and health for all residents in the county.”

In his role as CEO of the Sutter Regional Medical Foundation, Ray is responsible for the strategic development and operation of Sutter-affiliated medical centers in Solano County, as well as East Contra Costa County and the South of Market district of San Francisco. Prior to joining Sutter Health in 2003, Ray served as CEO of the Shoreline Medical Group in Mountain View, California and as CEO of French Health Plan in San Francisco.

Ray earned a Master of Healthcare Administration Degree from the University of Washington in 1980, graduating first in his class. He was the recipient of the 1980 Advanced Fellowship in Healthcare Leadership sponsored by the American Hospital Association and the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association.

Ray joins the Solano EDC board of directors comprised of municipal and county officials as well as executives from Anheuser-Busch, Genentech, PG&E, plus local realtors and bankers. He also serves on the board of the Sutter Fairfield Surgery Center, the Sutter Solano Charitable Foundation, and is the co-chairman for the 2005 March of Dimes annual fundraiser.
